The procedure is minimally invasive. Some patients experience mild discomfort, but a numbing agent is applied beforehand to minimize pain.

Most patients need 3–6 sessions, spaced 4–6 weeks apart, for optimal results. Maintenance treatments may be needed every 6–12 months.
